Common Hair Problems and How to Solve Them!

Hello my lovelies!

I want to talk about the elephant in the metaphorical room…hair troubles.

Whether it be oiliness, dryness, or any other affliction, it’s important for all of us to have ways to combat these pesky problems. I will attempt to cover as many as I can think of for all of you.

Oily hair

Obviously, any type of hair issue sucks, but oily hair can often be the most noticeable. Generally, an oily patch of hair is not the most attractive, so here are some easy ways to help get rid of oily hair!

  • Choose the right shampoo: Using overly moisturizing hair care products, especially products made for dry hair, will make your hair appear extra oily. Instead, opt for products specifically made to combat oily scalp and hair. My personal favorite would be these amazing Lush Cosmetics shampoo and conditioner. However, many brands such as Matrix and Redken carry their own versions of oil combating hair care that is equally as beneficial.
  • Keep your hands out of your hair: Unless you’re styling it or brushing it out of your face, it’s best not to habitually rake your fingers through your hair excessively.  Doing that allows all of the oil from your hands to transfer to your hair instead, creating even more of a mess.
  • Wash your hair fairly often: The two day rule is perfectly fine, as this can train your hair to resist becoming oily fast, but three days or longer is bad practice. Unlike people with dry hair, stripping the extra oils from your hair from washing it, isn’t the end of the world. In fact, this might end up being helpful.
  • Dry shampoo is your friend: If you are on second or third day hair, or maybe even first day, a quality dry shampoo can make all the difference for controlling your oily hair. If you don’t want to buy some dry shampoo, there are plenty of DIY recipes out there for all hair colors, but my favorite store bought dry shampoo is hands down Batiste.

Dry Hair

While I personally do not suffer from dry hair now, I have in the past, and it’s a royal pain. Fortunately, there are some relatively easy and effective ways to solve this common problem!

  • Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner is a must: Keeping your hair moisturized is essential to keeping your hair healthy and looking alive. Once again, I highly recommend either Lush or Matrix, as you really can’t go wrong with any of their products.
  • Hair Masks: If you have ridiculously dry hair, this is an absolute must. Even something as simple as coconut oil can do wonders for your hair. If/when you get your hands on a hair mask, massage it from the roots all the way to the ends and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, however you can leave the oil in your hair for the whole day, it wont hurt you. Again, I’m really about the Lush life, and I highly recommend this hair treatment from them. My mother LOVES it!

Dandruff

I can personally attest to the fact that dandruff is a particular nuisance, being that I have dealt with it on occasion. Fortunately, there is often a fairly easy fix to this problem!

  • Do not pick at it: No matter how hard it is to resist the temptation, do not pick at any dandruff spots or vigorously try to scratch it all off in one go. This can lead to open sores and cuts, ergo a nasty infection in a place that’s hard to get to.
  • Use the right hair products: Dandruff is often a sign of a dry scalp, but not necessarily dry hair. Moisturizing the crap out of your hair may not solve your dandruff issues. Instead, use products specifically targeted at dealing with dandruff. The most famous brand of shampoos and conditioners for this issue would have to be Head&Shoulders, which is definitely a legitimate brand to use.But y’all know I have to push my Lush propaganda once again and advertise this AMAZEBALLS hair treatment specifically for dandruff.

That is all for today! Remember to like, comment, subscribe and most of all, enjoy your day!

Stay Beautiful!
