Does It Work: Revlon YouthFX Fill+Blur Foundation

Hello my lovelies!

Today I wanted to let you know my thoughts on the newest foundation from Revlon. I love trying out new drugstore foundations, since they can often be better than or equal to a high end option. I also did a review a few months ago on the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation, so if you’re interested in that for a possible comparison, I will leave that for you here.

Ingredients:

Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Aqua (Water (Eau)), PEG / PPG-19 / 19 Dimethicone, C13-16 Isoparaffin, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Isohexadecane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Stearyl Heptanoate, Boron Nitride, Tribehenin, Stearyl Caprylate, C10-13 Isoparaffin, Maris Sal ((Sea Salt) Sel Marin), Tocopherol, Niacinamide, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Carrageenan, Saccharide Isomerate, Glycerin, Trisiloxane, Alumina, Methicone, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Sodium Chloride, Dimethicone / Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.

I’m seeing a lot of Dimethicone variations. Dimethicone is a type of silicon, used in this case for protective and smoothing purposes. If you have problems with silicon-based products, be cautious. Same thing goes for the second ingredient, Cyclopentasiloxane, although this is rated a little more highly on the toxicity scale according to EWG.org. As for the 3rd ingredient, I think we all know what water is.

Claims:

This foundation claims to help erase dark spots, age spots, hyperpigmentation, and also claims to blur fine lines and wrinkles. This is a lightweight, hydrating formula with high pigmentation, and claims to look freshly applied all day.

Instructions:

Apply with a preferred beauty tool

Would I recommend it:

In a single sentence; absolutely not, especially for oily skin.

First, this foundation did NOT look “freshly applied” all day. I understand that this is meant for mature skin, but being as it was recommended for all skin types, I figured it would work for me. This did not do a good job of covering my red acne spots, so I question the validity of the high coverage claim.

After only 2 hours, this foundation began to noticeably break up on my chin and nose. I broke my own personal rule and attempted to touch up these areas, but moments later, it would look broken up all over again. This foundation claims to blur fine lines and wrinkles, but if anything, I feel like it settled even more into my forehead lines. Not only did I look horrifically oily for the day, I looked old.

Moreover, this foundation broke me out very badly, causing me to not wear makeup for over a week in order to let it heal. This might work if you’re someone with more mature skin, but even then, I seriously question this foundation.

The only thing I liked about this foundation, was the way it applied initially. Because of the initial application, I had high hopes and was feeling very positive, as it dried down to a matte finish. No matter who the foundation is targeted to, it should not start breaking up on my face only hours after application; unacceptable. For $18.00, not only do I expect a few more shades for darker skinned women as well as lighter, I expect a product with some payoff. In my opinion, this did not check off on any of the claims that Revlon made, and for that, I am sorely disappointed. If this can’t cover my own similar problems, I don’t expect it to be comprehensive enough for anyone else in a situation like this.

Once again, this is simply my opinion on the product. If you used it and loved it, please let me know! I hope that this might help you finalize a decision if you were thinking about purchasing this foundation, whether for good or bad.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a stupendous Saturday full of sunshine and overall happiness.

Stay beautiful!
