December Empties: Would I Repurchase?

“Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being”

-Albert Schweitzer

Hello my lovelies!

I decided to start a new series alongside my monthly Digs and Duds: Empties. While this style of blog post will be more infrequent than my monthly favorites posts, I always see posts like this cropping up in my reader, and I figure that I should finally join in.

This past month, I managed to empty quite a few makeup and skincare products, which is always an exciting thing for me. With all the different products I like to experiment with, I often feel like I can never use something up in time before it needs to be thrown out. I’m hoping that with these posts, I will not only encourage myself to be more conscious of what I buy and use up, but it will inspire others to do the same as well.

Just like my “Digs and Duds”, the products will be listed in the order that I would use them. Starting with skincare (including the body), moving to makeup, and then to any removal or aftercare products.

Empties:

DecemberEmpties

Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray –

I use this spray as my last step in my morning skincare routine. It helps with hydrating, priming, and absorbing oil. This product doesn’t upend my skincare routine whether I use it or not, but I love the way it makes my skin feel and the slight stickiness it helps create for my makeup.

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter –

I use this body butter any time I take a full shower. What I mean by this is washing my hair, shaving, body wash, all the works. The skin on my face may be an oily mess, but I have a lot of problems with psoriasis and eczema on my actual body. This body butter is so soothing for any irritated spots I may have, and has actually reduced the frequency of my psoriasis and eczema flareups. I can tell when I haven’t used this product in a while, and I think that says a lot for how much of a difference it makes.

Urban Decay Self Adjusting Complexion Primer –

This primer is meant to correct tones and create a softening effect, which I completely agree with. I have included this as a favorite in the past, and it still continues to be my favorite primer that I’ve tried. The only thing it doesn’t do, is keep my oiliness under control, but I also use a separate primer for that purpose. I’ll have to see how my skin reacts to this once I go on Isotretinoin (more on that in the future), but I intend to keep this as a permanent primer in my rotation.

Would I repurchase: Yes!

The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops Liquid Foundation –

I use the lightening drops (obviously) to help lighten any foundations that are too dark for me, which is essentially all of my foundations because I am Casper. I really like the product itself, but the dropper makes using the product nearly impossible. It does not actually pick up and administer any product, meaning I have to coat the outside of the dropper and rub it all along the backside of my hand in order to mix it into my foundation. I’m actually not even sure if this bottle is truly empty, I just know that I can no longer suction or pick up any more product.

Would I repurchase: No!

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer –

I have also included this product as a favorite in the past, and I’m really heartbroken that it’s finally gone. I am going to take a break and try a few new concealers that I’ve picked up recently, but this will officially go into the vault of favorite concealers, alongside my Urban Decay Naked Concealer.

Would I repurchase: Yes!

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder –

While my Maybelline Fit Me Setting Powder is certainly giving this powder a run for its money, it will also be in the vault of all time favorites. The cult following it has is certainly justified.

Would I repurchase: Yes!

MAC Studiofix Powder Plus Foundation –

I’m still waiting on a powder that’s more flawless and full coverage than this. I know that it’s a powder foundation, but I have a lot of acne to cover up and I like to look like I’m baked to perfection. We’ll have to see how this sits on my skin in the future, but this is ALSO a vault favorite.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow Definer –

When I first tried this out, I remember hating it. I came to learn that my hatred for it was my incorrect use of the product. I then learned to love it and covet it as a favorite. As I started trying other brows products though, I realized that this brow product wasn’t everything that I had thought it was, and that I’ve found better products. Is it still a great product? For sure, but my absolute love for it has definitely dwindled.

Would I repurchase: No!

Yes To Cucumbers Eye Makeup Remover Pads –

I feel like a lot of people don’t actually like this brand and/or don’t really talk about it, but I’m a long running fan. These pads don’t sting my eyes like crazy when I remove makeup, and they also remove more stubborn products, like glitter. My eyes feel completely clean when I use these.

    1. Because I put on makeup every day, I think I’ve had it about 6 months, which I consider a feat. I use it for highlighting AND priming my eyelids. Truthfully, I could probably still scrape some out of the tube if I really wanted! I think it’s so worth it. Definitely purchase!
