Rainbow Pride: Brown

Hello my lovelies!

BrownRainbowFace

In case you missed it, Philly created a new pride flag to incorporate fellow LGBTQ+ people of color, and naturally I’m all for it. The flag now includes the colors brown and black, so I wanted to include these in my series as well. Furthermore, I tried to create a look that I felt would look good on anyone with a darker complexion, although it might look different than it does on my pale ass.

BrownRainbowEyes

If you notice that my lashes don’t look as stark black as usual, it’s because I decided to use a brown mascara to keep with the brown color theme. Obviously, you can use whatever color you feel is best, but I thought the brown mascara tied in really well, and was a little more subtle.

Let’s get started:

Photo via Morphe

Eyelids:

  1. Prime the eyelids and set with shadow one, or any other shadow that matches your skin tone best.
  2. Blend shadow two throughout the entire upper crease in order to help with blending darker colors.
  3. Distribute shadow three slightly lower into the crease to create definition in the socket.
  4. Pack shadow four onto the outer corner, blending outward and into the outer half of the crease, as low as possible.
  5. Place shadow five across the empty space of the eyelid. This will help  cover any messy blending, and gives the lid an even brown wash, much like am ombre effect.

Lower Lashline:

  1. Mix shadows two and three and blend across the entire lashline. The further down you blend, the more hazy and smokey this will be.
  2. Blend shadow four onto the outer half of the lashline, connecting upper outer corner.

Other:

  1. Pack shadow six onto the tear duct for an added highlight.
  2. Line the waterline with any brown or bronzey liner.
  3. Curl and coat your lashes with brown mascara.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a fabulous Wednesday. I will hopefully be posting every day for this series.

Stay beautiful!

Rainbow Pride: Orange

Hello my lovelies!

OrangeRainbowFace
NOT NAKED HERE

Since it’s pride month, I’ve decided to create a series incorporating the rainbow, a major symbol of pride for the LGBTQ community. On top of all the original colors in the rainbow, I will also be including a brown and a black look, in honor of Philadelphia’s new inclusive pride flag. The colors will be in no particular order, which I’m sure you can see, since I started with orange.

OrangeRainbowEyes

In my opinion, makeup is about celebrating the individual ideas and styles of other people; man, woman, or anywhere in between. I love belonging to an artistic community where age, gender, sexual orientation, and status don’t take precedence over what you bring to the table as a person. This series is my way of promoting pride for the LGBTQ community, while also showing how fun and rich in culture it is through an artistic medium.

The eyes are probably not the most exciting thing I’ve done, but I love the bright orange lips, which were meant to be the focus.

Let’s get started:

hqdefault

Eyelids:

  1. Prime and set the lids with shadow one, or any shadow that matches your skin tone most accurately.
  2. Buff shadow two throughout the entire uppermost part of the crease, slightly onto the brow bone, for a transition shade.
  3. Blend shadow three into the middle of the crease, as well as the outer corner, dragging into a slightly winged shape.
  4. Place shadow four on the entire lid, as well as the outer corner. Blend in with the crease shades.

Lower Lashline:

  1. Mix shadows two and three, blend across the entire lower lashline, all the way to the inner corner.
  2. Pack shadow four onto the outer corner of the lashline, and connect to the lid shadow.
  3. Place shadow five onto the tear duct for a highlight.

Other:

  1. Line the waterline with a nude or white pencil to open the eyes.
  2. Curl and coat your lashes with mascara, apply falsies if you wish (This would look awesome with a brown mascara).

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an amazing Tuesday.

Stay beautiful!

Fairytale Forest Eyeshadow

Hello my lovelies!

MagicalForestFace

I went a little crazy once again, but I was really feeling something green. I was mostly inspired by the army green color in the Jeffree Star Androgyny palette, but I needed a few more similar colors, and ended up finding the NYX Perfect Filter Shadow Palette in Olive You.

MagicalforestEyes

For whatever reason, my eyeshadow looks lighter on one side than the other, but after constantly going over it again and checking in natural light, I deduced that they are, in fact, the same, so I’m going to blame that weirdness on my camera and time of day. Regardless, I do not feel that this is a reflection on pigmentation of either palette, because as I said, the eyes look exactly the same in natural lighting, and that’s what really matters to me.

Let’s get started:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Eyelids:

  1. Prime and set with any skin color shadow.
  2. With shadow one, blend throughout the crease and close to the brow bone for a smooth transition shade.
  3. Blend “Safe Word” through the entire crease for some definition.
  4. Place “Military” slightly lower into the crease and blend once again. This look is mostly a bunch of blending colors together, so be patient.
  5. Pack shadow four onto the outer V of the lid, as well as into the lowest part of the crease, about halfway.
  6. Wet a brush and place shadow five onto the middle of the lid, fusing into the outer corner shade.
  7. Wet the brush once again and place shadow six onto the inner corner, blending in with the middle shade.
  8. Blend out any harsh edges with “Safe Word”.

Lower Lashline:

  1. Mix the first shade of the NYX palette and “Safe Word” and blend all across the lashline.
  2. Mix “Military” and shade four of the NYX Palette, blending onto the outer corner and connecting to the top outer corner.
  3. Place shadow six onto the inner corner and tear duct for some brightness.

Other:

  1. Line the waterline with a nude or white eyeliner.
  2. Curl and coat your lashes, apply falsies if you’d prefer.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an awesome hump day, and if you’re on summer break, congrats, you earned it!

Cool Toned Purples Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

CoolTonedPurpleFace

Because I am really pressed for time at this moment, I am going to make this introductory paragraph short and sweet by simply saying that I am FEELING MYSELF with this makeup look. I used two of the new Jeffree Star x Mannymua733 collab items with this look, one being the liquid lip “Daddy” and the highlighter “Eclipse”. I’ve never used a JSC highlighter before, and I must say, it’s glowing! I look like I have a purplish disco ball radiating from my cheekbones, and I’m not mad about it.

Let’s get started:

SONY DSC
Photo via Lesley Makeup

Eyelids:

  1. Prime the eyelids and set with a powder. I will be using only two eyeshadow brushes for this entire look, so be sure to wipe the first one off in between when you can.
  2. With a fluffy blending brush, blend “Cozy Grey” throughout the crease as the transition shade between the shimmers.
  3. Wet a synthetic shader brush with “Sweet Allure” and pack onto the inner third of the eyelid. Blend this slightly into the middle to start the ombre effect.
  4. On the same wet brush, Pack “sun Tweaked” onto the middle of the eyelid, blending into the first shadow, and extending slightly into the outer third.
  5. Same wet brush again, pack “After Dusk” on the outer third of the lid, blending in with the middle shade.
  6. With the same fluffy brush from earlier, blend out any harsh edges that the shimmer shadows may have created.

Lower Lashline:

1. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 on the lower lashline. That easy!

Other:

  1. Line the waterline with either a white or nude colored liner.
  2. Curl and coat the lashes with mascara. I wanted a slightly more editorial look, so I would suggest no lashes in order to achieve this.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an amazing weekend!

Golden Goddess Eye Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

goldengodessface

goldengoddesseyes

Lately it’s been feeling like spring around Milwaukee, which I’m really not excited about. I’m not ready for winter to be over yet! I need my dark lips and sultry eyes for just a little longer. Not to mention, I live for drama (on the face!), so winter is just my shit. I know this looks kind of similar to some things I’ve done before, but I was dying to wear this lip color and pretty much themed my entire look around it. Hope you enjoy.

Let’s get started:

20161003_181417
Photo via BudgetBeautyBlog
  1. Prime the eyelids with a regular primer, then pack any golden creme shadow onto the center of the lid.
  2. Set the entire eye with a translucent powder.
  3. On a large fluffy brush, run “Isabel” through the entire crease and lower browbone area.
  4. Pack “Violeta” onto the outer corner, blending halfway onto the lid.
  5. On a shader brush, place “5th Ave” on the first half of the eyelid.
  6. Where the matte and shimmer shade meet, swipe downward on the harsh line. This is a trick I found that blends any harsh edges between different shadow textures easily.
  7. Repeat the exact same process on the lower lashline in step one and two.
  8. Place “Hollywood” onto the inner tear duct.
  9. Create a thin line of liquid liner to amplify the lashes.
  10. Line the waterline with a bronzey liner of your choice.
  11. Curl and coat your lashes, add falsies if you’d like.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an amazing weekend, I hope you’re all having some great weather!

Stay beautiful!

MOTD: An Updated Classic

Hello my lovelies!

simpleeyesloudlip

Unlike usual, this isn’t going to be a tutorial, however I wanted to share my take on a pretty classic makeup look: A subtle wing with a bold lip.

For the most part, I was very focused on creating a full coverage and *flawless* base. I added a minimal amount of eyeshadow, simply because I prefer the way my eyes look with some added color. I’ve been realizing as of late that I don’t wear a lot of pink lips anymore, so I decided to change things up and throw one on for a change. Last but not least, the winged out eyeliner really completes this timeless look. I opted for a thinner line today, as I wanted to keep the drama relatively low for once.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an awesome start to your week.

Stay Beautiful!

Soft Glam Eyes Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

softglamface

softglameyes

For the rest of the week up until Christmas Eve, I am going to showcase a few of my favorite holiday looks for you all. Sometimes, the classic red lip just wont do it, and we all need a little variation now and then.

For day one, I wanted to start with a soft but glamorous holiday look, perfect for any party that you may be going to, or just a cozy night at home with family.

Let’s get started:

3605971071492_gwenstefani_alt2

  1. Prime and set the eyelids with a powder close to your skintone.
  2. Take “Stark” on a large fluffy brush and distribute throughout the entire crease as our transition shade.
  3. With “Anaheim”, place on the outer corner of the eye and blend slightly into the outer crease. Since this look is soft, we will not be doing a lot of outer corner definition, so keep a light hand.
  4. On a flat shader brush, pack “Steady” all over the lid and blend together with “Anaheim”. Two layers should give the desired opacity.
  5. Using “Pop” on the same shader brush, pack this shadow directly into the middle of the eyelid for a dimensional glittery appearance.
  6. For the lower lashline, run “Anaheim” along the outer two thirds of the eye, blending down just slightly for a soft, smoked out effect.
  7. Use “Pop” again on the tear duct for a glittery highlight.
  8. Curl and coat your lashes with mascara. I would advise against using falsies, or at least some very natural ones, to keep this look soft.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a wonderful start to the holidays!

Stay beautiful!

Miscellaneous

My Ride or Die Makeup Products

Hello my lovelies!

Today I am going to share with all of you my ride or die makeup products. Simply put, these are products that I simply cannot live without, and no matter how often I use them, I will always know they’re my fallback products.

ride-or-die-1

Foundation: Clarins Everlasting Foundation SPF 15 – I don’t wear this foundation as often as I would like to, simply because it’s so expensive, but this has the most beautiful finish on my oily skin, and doesn’t look at all cakey. The price makes it hard to want to use, however I will always be a die hard fan.

Concealer/Highlight: Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer – Honestly I don’t think any other product on the planet could beat this concealer for me. The lightest shade is spot on, and works as a great highlighter for me, as well as providing amazing ass coverage. If you haven’t tried this concealer, then what are you doing with your life?

Spot concealer: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit- I’m not crazy about this product for under my eyes, but it works its magic on my blemishes. As most of you know, I have oily, acne prone skin, and this concealer definitely cancels out any discoloration I may have in that area. Are my spots invisible? No. Close enough? Yes.

Under Eye Powder: NYX Cosmetics HD Finishing Powder in Yellow – I LOVE this powder for my undereyes. The yellow color is great for brightening, but not too yellow on my ultra pale skin. This prevents major creasing for me, and gives such a beautiful satin finish to your under eyes.

Face Setting Powder: M.A.C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation – Again, I know how the saying goes: don’t put powder foundation on top of your liquid foundation. I say poop to that. This powder is so beautiful and high coverage, but does NOT make me look cakey in he slightest. I may not have had this powder long, but I’m already in love.

Contour Powder: NARS Blush Duo in Olympia – The fact that this is called a blush duo is weird to me, but the contour powder in this duo is such a lovely cool toned brown, and I just can’t stop using it. This powder is so high quality and gorgeous on the skin, it just makes the angels sing, I swear to you.

Bronzing Powder: Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Golden Light – Also not a product I’ve had very long, however I know this bronzer is my everything. I enjoy that this bronzer is actually BROWN, and not a strange orange hybrid. A little of this goes such a long way, so in my mind, you really get what you pay for.

Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface – Yet another product that I haven’t had long, but it’s just that amazing. I always thought these blushes were overrated, until I decided to buy them. Dollface is such a beautiful universal pink, and I think everyone should be blessed with this shade in their life.

Highlight: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl – If I could choose one shade in the world of highlighters that compliments pale skin perfectly, it would be this one. While I understand that glittery highlights are everyone’s thing, I love a strong highlight on my cheekbones, and Pearl just delivers that and more. This highlight is my child.

Palette: Smashbox #ShapeMatters Palette – This palette has pretty much been my constant companion since the day I got it. It has been well used, but not abused. The shadows in this palette are such high quality, and I’ve all but used up the yellow powder shade. This palette also comes with gorgeous contour, bronzer, and highlight shades.

Liquid Eyeliner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper – I’ve used this liquid liner over the past few years on and off, but I know it’s always a liner that I can fall back on. The pigmentation is right on point, and the tip is, well, right on point as well.

Pencil Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil – While I’m a fan of most of the colors, the formula is what really impresses me. This is the ONLY pencil liner that stays in my waterline until I remove it myself, and that’s a lot for someone with watery eyes. Everything else just seems like a disappointment compared to these babies.

Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara – I started using this mascara about 4 months ago religiously, and my first and only tube is still going strong. This stuff is BLACK, and sticks to your lashes like a dream. While it is a bitch to get off, I view that as a good thing at the end of the day.

Lipstick: Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks – I may not have all of them, but I sure do enjoy the two that I have. Out of all of my liquid lips (which is a lot), this is my favorite formula. The glide on so well, look and feel amazing, and don’t transfer!

Setting Spray: Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray – I know the cult favorite is the UD All Nighter, but this particular version quickly stole my heart. First off, it’s literally made for my type of skin, and second, it actually does its job, which is not something I can say for all setting sprays.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a lovely start to your week. Welcome to Fall!

Stay beautiful!

Top Five

Top 5 Foundations

Hello my lovelies!

Today I want to talk about my all time favorite foundations. While my favorites often vary, these five, tried and true foundations have stuck with me through thick and thin, and are definitely going to stay in my rotation.

Let’s get started:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – When I first bought this foundation, I was not super impressed with the range of color at first. However, now I am much happier with the color selection, going from very light to very dark. Unfortunately, I picked up this foundation when it had first come out, meaning that the absolute lightest shade “Snow”, was not yet available. While the shade I have now “Porcelain”, is a kiss too dark for me, I make it work by mixing in one of my favorite lighter foundations. This foundation does oxidize slightly, so be aware when you are working with this product.

In my opinion, this is a medium/full coverage foundation. I love the coverage, and I love the natural finish even more. This foundation genuinely looks like a better version of my skin. Beware though, if you are on the oilier side like me, you will need to use a mattifying primer, as well as set this foundation very well. However, if you’re on the drier end of the spectrum, this foundation will give you a beautiful satin finish. This foundation never sits on top of my dry patches, and truly neutralizes my redness. If you have problems with acne or scarring, but want a more “natural” look, definitely give this foundation a test.

In terms of wear time, this foundation will last pretty well throughout an average day. Again, if you are oilier, you will want to keep blotting paper or powder on hand, just in case. I find that this foundation does not last as long alone as it does when I mix it with a matte foundation. I do think that this foundation is NOT supposed to last as long as a matte foundation though, simply because it is just that – not a matte formula. Rest assured, even on my oiliest days, I can get a good six or seven hours of wear, which is fantastic for something so moisturizing and natural looking (Purchase here. Comes in 18 shades).

Clarins Everlasting Foundation+ – Quite honestly, the shade range for darker skin tones is not great, however if you are on the extremely pale side like me, this is a lovely foundation. Additionally, the shades are fairly neutral in undertone, which is great for people who either are neutral, or can’t find a shade on the warm or cool sides. My favorite thing about these shades is that the do NOT oxidize.

This is definitely a medium/full coverage foundation, which again, I love. The coverage is fabulous and leaves a comfortably matte finish to the skin. Luckily, this foundation works for ALL skin types! Regardless, I suggest locking this foundation in place with a setting powder, not because it gets oily, but it just looks even better. Unfortunately, this foundation does have a slightly flowery fragrance, as is with most of the products from Clarins. However, I do not think the fragrance is super strong, and it does disappear after drying onto your face. This foundation does not offer a natural look, it absolutely does look like you put on makeup, albeit in the best way possible.

Once again, even at my oiliest, I get a pretty good six, all the way up to twelve hours of wear. You will not need to blot or as often, which is a huge bonus for all you oily girls out there, and it does not cling to dry patches throughout the day, despite it being a matte finish. If you are prone to melting in certain areas, be cautious, since this foundation may rub away in those areas without proper setting. For a matte foundation, this formula is incredibly moisturizing, yet works for all skin types (Purchase here. Comes in 10 shades).

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation – I have to admit, I was VERY pleasantly surprised with the shade range of this product. While the line does lean more towards warm tones, I find that the lightest shade is, in fact, very light, and vice versa with the darkest shade. This product does not oxidize, which is amazing for a drugstore product.

This foundation is absolutely full coverage, but can be sheered out for lighter coverage. This shit is light, airy, and wears beautifully on my oily skin. If you are on the drier side, you can use this foundation, however I would strongly advise using a moisturizing primer beforehand. You don’t NEED to set this foundation, but I would anyway, because I want this stuff to stick to my skin at all costs.

Out of all the foundations I have/will talk about in this post, this one is by far the longest lasting. No joke, I have worn this foundation for FOURTEEN hours, and not a single thing changed on my face. Shout out to L’oreal for making a foundation that everyone can wear (Purchase here. Comes in 12 shades).

L’oreal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation –  Once again, I’m very happy with the shade range of this product. This time, the shades follow more along the original True Match line, and include warm, cool, and neutral shades.

This foundation is a light coverage, however it can be built up very nicely. I love the thin, wet texture this foundation has, and despite the fact that it is very moisturizing and luminous, it doesn’t break up on my skin or make me look like a slick oil drum. I personally do not wear this foundation right now during the sumismer, since I am oily, but I love the luminous look of this foundation during colder days. If  you are super dry, this foundation is an absolute must! If you like a super dewy finish, you can either lightly set this foundation, or not set it at all. If dewy ain’t your thang, set it like you would any foundation.

In my opinion, this foundation offers the least amount of longevity, however that doesn’t make it a bad product! I get about five to seven hours from this foundation, which is great, especially for someone oily like me. Unfortunately, I do have to spend some time blotting and powdering a few times during the day, but this really doesn’t bother me are. As I said, if you drier, this would be PERFECT for you, even more so than it is for me during the colder months (Purchase here. Comes in 12 shades).

Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation – Out of my top five foundations, this one offers the largest amount of shades. The actual range is fantastic as well. The shades mostly showcase warmer tones, but some cooler shades exist.

In my opinion, this foundation offers a medium coverage, but can definitely be built up to a full coverage. The texture is liquidy and very easy to work with, but still offers a matte, flawless finish. For the most part, I can wear this foundation all year round, but on occasion, it is a touch too matte for me in the winter time. I find that this foundation can sometimes cling to dry patches upon first applying, but does not continue to do so after setting. The finish is very matte, so expect zero shine from this baby!

This foundation offers anywhere between seven and twelve hours of wear, and stays amazingly matte throughout the day. I rarely have to blot or powder with this foundation, and I often use it as a mixing agent with other foundations. As always, be cautious with this foundation if you are dry, however I have seen even the driest of girls and boys use this foundation and look flawless (Purchase here. Comes in 24 shades).

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it helps me out so much. Have a fantastic summer weekend once again; maybe hit the pool while you’re at it!

Stay Beautiful!

Digs and Duds

January Digs and Duds

Hello my lovelies!

It’s that time again; time for January’s hot items, as well as the not so hot items. Let’s get started.

Digs

L’oreal Paris Magic Perfecting Base Primer – Forewarning, I have a lot of new L’oreal products to share with you guys. I personally think that this is a pretty good drugstore primer. I’m not going to lie to all of you and claim it’s my ride or die favorite, but I like the consistency and it keeps everything in place.

L’oreal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Gloss in Statement Nude and Forbidden Kiss – I’m going to start off by saying that these glosses aren’t at all matte in the traditional sense. Yes, they’re not as shiny, but I do have a bit of a beef with the name. Other than that, I love the color payoff, and the consistency of this is amazing, not at all sticky. I say stick with the more nude color selections, as they have the most color payoff.

L’oreal True Match Lumi Cushion in N2 Classic Ivory – If you like a luminous but still flawless finish, then this is absolutely the foundation for you. I love the slightly runny consistency of this foundation, and it applies like a dream. Be warned that a little certain goes a long way, which is great because in terms of foundation amount, you don’t get as much as a regular bottled foundation. Nonetheless, you can build this foundation up very easily without looking super cakey.

L’oreal Paris Infallible Pro Matter Foundation in 101 Classic Ivory – Generally, I don’t believe any drugstore foundation that claims to be matte. Case en point, I love my Maybelline Matte and Poreless, but I wouldn’t consider it super matte by any means. However, this Pro Matte foundation surprised me, in the best way possible. I love that it’s truly matte, but doesn’t cling to my dry patches or look cakey. I would go so far as to say that this on my list of top 5 foundations.

NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in Beige – I love this concealer for covering my acne spots, as cystic acne can look like big red welts and be a bear to cover up. This concealer is VERY yellow toned, so it ends up being perfect to counteract the redness that I often have. Warning, this is TERRIBLE if you try to cover your under eye circles. This concealer is just too thick for that kind of purpose in my opinion.

NYX Ombre Lip Duo in Poppy & Lilly – As much as I wasn’t crazy about the consistency of the liquid suedes in bright hues, I adore this particular lip duo. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful, and they blend so easily to actually create an ombre look. Best part yet, you can also wear them as colors on their own.

Clarins Multi Blush in 02 Candy – I wasn’t into this blush at first, because it has a strange consistency. I think the best way I can describe it, is that it’s almost like a puddy. It’s not a creme, but it’s not powder either. Either way, you CAN pick it up with a brush, and the color is gorgeous.
