Rainbow Pride: Blue

Hello my lovelies!

BlueRainbowFace
Still not naked

This is looking a little crazy, but while sitting at my desk trying to figure out how to make blue wearable, I thought to myself “does anyone REALLY wear blue eye shadow on the daily?” So instead, I channeled my inner drag queen and went the hell out.

BlueRainbowEyes

This look is perfect for a sunny barbecue or a family photo, clearly very neutral.

But really, if you want to wear this while doing your Target run, who am I to tell you no? Also, what do all of you think of the L’oreal Total Cover foundation? I’ve got mixed feelings about it, but I sometimes feel like it makes me look a little crusty. Let a bitch know what you think.

Let’s get started:

Eyelids:

  1. Prime and set the lids with a bone colored shadow, or anything that works with your skin tone.
  2. Blow out “Safe Word” through the crease and onto the brow bone for a smooth transition shade.
  3. Blend “Poison” over “Safe Word”. Blues can be a little more difficult to blend, so take your time blending this out properly.
  4. Place shadow three directly into the deepest part of the crease for added definition. Don’t worry about packing this shade for opacity, since this look is not meant to be cobalt.
  5. Blend “Swallow” in to the lowest and outermost part of the crease, as well as the outer corner. Pull this shadow into a pointed shape on the outer corner for extra drama. Again, take your time with blending. Much like a black smokey eye, this will start out looking like an unfortunate black eye, but I promise it’ll come together.
  6. Wet a brush and take shadow five “Mermaid” onto the entire lid, all the way into the crease and brow bone area. Take a clean fluffy brush and blend out the edges AFTER this shadow has dried.

Lashline:

  1. Mix “Poison” and “Swallow” together and blend from outer to inner corner of  the lashline, concentrating most of the pigment onto the outer corner. Connect this shadow to the lid as well.
  2. Pack “Mermaid” from the inner corner of the eye to about halfway.
  3. Line the waterline with a blue liner. I chose a darker blue liner for a little more contrast.

Other:

  1. Highlight the tear duct with any white highlighting shade. I used the same one for my face.
  2. Curl and coat your lashes with mascara, apply falsies if you’d like.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an amazing Saturday.

Stay beautiful!

Rainbow Pride: Brown

Hello my lovelies!

BrownRainbowFace

In case you missed it, Philly created a new pride flag to incorporate fellow LGBTQ+ people of color, and naturally I’m all for it. The flag now includes the colors brown and black, so I wanted to include these in my series as well. Furthermore, I tried to create a look that I felt would look good on anyone with a darker complexion, although it might look different than it does on my pale ass.

BrownRainbowEyes

If you notice that my lashes don’t look as stark black as usual, it’s because I decided to use a brown mascara to keep with the brown color theme. Obviously, you can use whatever color you feel is best, but I thought the brown mascara tied in really well, and was a little more subtle.

Let’s get started:

35-palettes-35O_1024x1024
Photo via Morphe

Eyelids:

  1. Prime the eyelids and set with shadow one, or any other shadow that matches your skin tone best.
  2. Blend shadow two throughout the entire upper crease in order to help with blending darker colors.
  3. Distribute shadow three slightly lower into the crease to create definition in the socket.
  4. Pack shadow four onto the outer corner, blending outward and into the outer half of the crease, as low as possible.
  5. Place shadow five across the empty space of the eyelid. This will help  cover any messy blending, and gives the lid an even brown wash, much like am ombre effect.

Lower Lashline:

  1. Mix shadows two and three and blend across the entire lashline. The further down you blend, the more hazy and smokey this will be.
  2. Blend shadow four onto the outer half of the lashline, connecting upper outer corner.

Other:

  1. Pack shadow six onto the tear duct for an added highlight.
  2. Line the waterline with any brown or bronzey liner.
  3. Curl and coat your lashes with brown mascara.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a fabulous Wednesday. I will hopefully be posting every day for this series.

Stay beautiful!

Copper Liner Eyes

Hello my lovelies!

CopperLinerFace

Today’s look is super simple, but is definitely still quite noticeable. I’m not much of a standard black wing kind of person, but I absolutely love colorful wings, as well as much more subtle brown wings, very similar to the one I have here.

CopperLinerEyes

If you’re like me and just not very good at doing winged eyeliner, I find it best to use an eye pencil to get the job done. I really love using the Colourpop creme gel liners to do wings, as they are a much smaller twist-up-pencil, which makes creating precise lines much easier. It may take a little more work to finesse the liner in such a way that it could fool anyone into thinking you used liquid or gel liner, but I think the effort is worth it.

Let’s get started:

Eyelids:

  1. I did not actually use any eyeshadow palette, since I wanted the focus to be on the copper eyeliner.
  2. Place your favorite bronzer into the crease of the eye, and blend out to create some definition. It is best to blend the shadow on the outer corners in the direction that your wing will also go.
  3. Wash the same bronzer all over the lid to create some color.
  4. With any copper colored eyeliner, create a sharp, mildly thick wing on both eyes.

Lower Lashline:

  1. Using the same bronzer, lightly define the entire lower lashline.
  2. Place a flesh toned eyeliner into the waterline, to create a more awake effect.

Other:

  1. Place a highlighter of your choice, preferably gold toned, into the inner tear duct of the eye for some brightness.
  2. Curl and coat your lashes, apply falsies if you prefer.
  3. Side note: This look would also be beautiful with a brown mascara, however I do not currently own one, so black was my only option.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a lovely Monday.

Stay beautiful!

Cruelty Free Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

CrueltyFreeEyes

You might notice some similarities between this look and my cruelty free makeup look. That’s because this is the eye portion, which I wanted to dedicate a separate post to. I’m going to keep this short, as I’m in the car on a Verizon Jetpack, on the way to D.C. for my cousin’s graduation.

Let’s get started:

jest0092f_1_l
Photo via Beautybay

Eyelids:

  1. Prime the eyes and set with a powder or shadow.
  2. Blend “Safe Word” on a large fluffy brush throughout the crease, extending from inner to outer corner.
  3. Pack and blend “Dominatrix” on the outer corner of the lid, extending in a diagonal motion toward the brow. Blend this shadow into the outer crease for added intensity.
  4. On a flat shader brush, pack “Frosting” on the inner half of the lid, increasing to the intensity that you desire.
  5. Blend out the harsh edges between the two shades on the lid with “Dominatrix”. Fluff this very lightly over the harsh edge of “Frosting” in order to blend out.

Lashline:

  1. Blend “Safe Word” across the entire lashline.
  2. With a pencil brush, place “Dominatrix” on the outer third, blending halfway in.
  3. Place “Frosting” on the inner third of the lashline.

Other:

  1. Place “Frosting” on the inner tear duct as a highlight.
  2. Line the waterline with a gold toned liner.
  3. Curl and coat your lashes. Add falsies if you’d prefer.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’ forget to have a beautiful Wednesday.

Cruelty Free Makeup Look

Hello my lovelies!

CrueltyFreeFace

Today’s post is not really a tutorial, but a list of products I used on my face that are cruelty free! I know that cruelty free has been a bit of a “trend” lately, so to speak, so I decided to step out of my creative box and try to round up products that I already own for a full face.

A small bit of info on the products I will be using:

  • All of the products used on my face are CRUELTY FREE, however, not all products are specifically noted as VEGAN. Cruelty Free ONLY products will be underlined, and COMBINATION products will be in bold.
  • All brands used are either self-described as cruelty free, or certified cruelty free. If I made a mistake, I’m sorry!
  • Some parent companies of these brands are NOT cruelty free, but the brands themselves are. I will denote these individual brands with an asterisk (*) in case this is important to you in particular.
  • At least ONE of these brands is not certified to my knowledge, however, consulting the website and ingredient list has led me to believe that they are a cruelty free brand.
  • Not ALL of my beauty tools are cruelty free, however, I am very pleased that my beloved BeautyBlender is!

While you’re reading this, keep in mind that using or not using cruelty free and/or vegan makeup does not make you a good or bad person in particular. You are in control of your own choices and finances, and you have every right to spend your money on products how you choose. I am not doing this post to shame those who do not follow the cruelty free and/or vegan lifestyle, rather to challenge myself and learn more about the products I use. This post is in no way implying that I will be throwing away my unapproved beauty products. I use products that are good for ME, regardless of where they come from, and everyone should feel free to do the same!

I digress. I hope you guys find this product list interesting, and maybe you’ll learn a lot of new things about how makeup is made, just like I did!

Cruelty free full face products:

  • Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation* – The individual brand Too Faced has been a member of PETA’s cruelty free program since 2001. However, Estee Lauder, their parent company, is not certified cruelty free because it is a company that sells in China, where animal testing is required.

  • Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer* – The individual brand Tarte is a member of PETA’s cruelty free program. However, KOSE, their parent company, is not certified cruelty free because it is a company that sells in China, where animal testing is required.

  • Under Eye Setting Powder: NYX HD Finishing Powder in Banana* – The individual brand NYX has been a member of PETA’s cruelty free program since 2010. However, L’oreal, their parent company, is not certified cruelty free because it is a company that sells in China, where animal testing is required.

  • All Over Setting Powder: Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation* – Exact same information as mentioned above with the foundation!

  • Contour/Bronzer: NYX Highlight and Contour Pro Palette* – Exact Same information as mentioned above with the under eye setting powder!

  • Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush* – Exact Same information as mentioned above with the concealer!

  • Highlight: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Eclipse – Jeffree Star Cosmetics is a cruelty free and vegan brand, and has been since its conception. The brand is a member of PETA’s cruelty free program.

  • Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer – Anastasia Beverly Hills is a cruelty free brand. The brand is a member of PETA’s cruelty free program.

  • Eyeshadow: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Androgyny Palette – Exact same information as mentioned above with the highlight!

  • Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara – Marc Jacobs Beauty is a cruelty free brand, however, its sister company, Marc Jacobs, is NOT. The brand is not certified by any cruelty free organisation, however it is listed in many of their databases as a cruelty free brand.

  • Eyeliner: Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Get Paid – Colourpop Cosmetics is a cruelty free brand. The brand is a member of PETA’s cruelty free program.

  • Lipstick: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lip Ammunition in Androgyny – Exact same information as mentioned above with the highlight!

  • Lipgloss: Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipgloss in Gilded – Exact same information as mentioned above with the eyebrows!

Digs and Duds

February Digs and Duds

Hello my lovelies!

I’m pretty excited about this month’s review blog post, because there’s no duds! This might be because I haven’t tried many new products this month, but either way, that’s pretty great!

Digs

M.A.C. 224 Brush – At this rate, I’m pretty sure that every beauty blogger has this brush, and with good reason. This brush is large and very fluffy, and makes for a great all over blending brush for the eyes.

Colourpop Blending Brush – For a $6.00 brush, this is fantastic quality. I am a bit of a brush snob, and besides this recent find, the only affordable brushes that I truly like are Bh Cosmetics brushes. I enjoy that this brush has the ability to blend out larger spaces, but is also awesome for getting into the crease and not making a mess everywhere. For 6 bucks, I highly recommend picking this up.

Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Palette “002 Coral Glow” – On days when I want a bit more of an allover glow, I really love using the bronzer and blush in this palette. The highlight is a little too natural for me, but I love using it as a base for my other highlights. None of the shades are matte, so keep that in mind if you plan on purchasing this. The only issue I have with this palette is the name for the bronzer, which is “Contour”. This shade does have a more neutral tone to it, but the shimmer is just a bad idea for contouring. Otherwise, I find this to be an overall great purchase.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil “Ash Brown” – I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I like this pencil better than my ABH brow definer. The formula as much less waxy and more creamy, which did worry me initially, but I LOVE working with this product. The packaging is kind of annoying to me because I have a hard time removing the caps, but compared to the actual project, this is a pretty minor annoyance.

Colourpop Creme Gel Liner “Prance”, “Show Me”, “Get Paid” – These creme liners are awesome! The color payoff is absolutely insane, and they are super easy to apply. The only annoyance is that these liners are so creamy, they tend to break off. Not much harm done in my eyes, since I tend to just stick the product back in and continue to use it anyway.

Marcelle Curling and Lengthening Mascara – While I don’t really plan on going out of my way to purchase this (I received it as a sample from Birchbox), this is a REALLY great mascara. The formula is great for holding a curl and length, and the brush also gives the desired effect. The only reason I don’t plan to purchase this, is because I am hopelessly attached to my Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara.

That’s all I have for you guys today! Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a lovely midweek.

Stay beautiful!

Peachy Monochrome Eye Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

peachymonochromeface

peachymonochromeeyes

Since spring will be upon us in a matter of time, I was inspired by rose golds and peaches in my color palette. I’m also really loving the monochrome trend (everything is in the same color hue), and figured I’d give it some more loving on my blog. Please excuse my right eyebrow, I realized only after I took this photo that it’s looking pretty patchy, which I went on to fix later.

Let’s get started:

35o_web_new_1024x1024
Photo via Morphe
  1. Prime the eyelids and set with shadow one, or any other matte shadow that matches your skin tone.
  2. Blend shadow two into the crease and just below the brow bone, from the outer to inner corners. This is our transition shade.
  3. Pack shadow three onto the outer corners of the eyes and blend out, dragging slightly into the crease. apply as much as you would like for desired intensity.
  4. Wet a packing brush and take shadow four all over the lid, stopping about halfway from the outer corner.
  5. Go back in with shadow four to blend out any harsh edges along the seams of the eyeshadows.
  6. Run shadow two along the entire lower lashline and blend downward. Place shadow three onto the outer corner, and shadow four onto the inner corner, mirroring the eyelid.
  7. Line the water line with a peach, rose gold, or light brown eyeliner. In my case, I used a metallic gel liner in a rose gold shade.
  8. Curl and coat your lashes, apply falsies if you wish.

That’s all I have today for you guys. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a wonderful beginning to March!

Golden Goddess Eye Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

goldengodessface

goldengoddesseyes

Lately it’s been feeling like spring around Milwaukee, which I’m really not excited about. I’m not ready for winter to be over yet! I need my dark lips and sultry eyes for just a little longer. Not to mention, I live for drama (on the face!), so winter is just my shit. I know this looks kind of similar to some things I’ve done before, but I was dying to wear this lip color and pretty much themed my entire look around it. Hope you enjoy.

Let’s get started:

20161003_181417
Photo via BudgetBeautyBlog
  1. Prime the eyelids with a regular primer, then pack any golden creme shadow onto the center of the lid.
  2. Set the entire eye with a translucent powder.
  3. On a large fluffy brush, run “Isabel” through the entire crease and lower browbone area.
  4. Pack “Violeta” onto the outer corner, blending halfway onto the lid.
  5. On a shader brush, place “5th Ave” on the first half of the eyelid.
  6. Where the matte and shimmer shade meet, swipe downward on the harsh line. This is a trick I found that blends any harsh edges between different shadow textures easily.
  7. Repeat the exact same process on the lower lashline in step one and two.
  8. Place “Hollywood” onto the inner tear duct.
  9. Create a thin line of liquid liner to amplify the lashes.
  10. Line the waterline with a bronzey liner of your choice.
  11. Curl and coat your lashes, add falsies if you’d like.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an amazing weekend, I hope you’re all having some great weather!

Sweet Springy Valentine’s Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

sweet-springy-valentines-facce

I wont lie, this is honestly one of my favorite looks that I’ve done so far, and it’s for Valentine’s Day, arguably my least favorite holiday. The pop of periwinkle on the waterline seriously makes me feel so pretty and alive, I love it.

To make things even better, I’m in LOVE with Maybelline’s new dream cushion foundation. As much as I enjoyed the cushion foundation from L’oreal, it was neither my favorite, nor something I planned to purchase again. In my opinion, cushion foundations that I’ve seen and tried tend to be very light coverage and very dewy. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I love my pancake face more than life itself. Not only is this foundation a comfortable amount of dewy for me, it’s actually got some coverage! Do yourself a favor and pick this up to try, you wont regret it.

I’d also like to quickly mention that this entire look was created using affordable products, with the exception of my brows!

Let’s get started:

sweet-springy-valentines-eye

  1. Prime and set the eyelids.
  2. With your favorite matte bronzer, run this throughout the entire crease with a large fluffy brush. Blow this color out as much as you want, and feel free to bring this onto the lid.
  3. On a smaller precise blending brush, take your favorite contouring shade (preferably cool toned), and run this in the outer crease for some slight definition.
  4. If you chose not to bring the bronzer onto your lids but feel like your lids are a little messy from blending, pack any shadow that most closely matches your skin tone onto the lid for cleanup.
  5. Line the entire waterline with a bright, cool toned blue eyeliner. Drag slightly along the lashline as well.
  6. Curl and coat your lashes with mascara. I would advise against false lashes in order to keep a fresh and flirty look.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a lovely Monday afternoon.

NYE Gold Glitter Eye Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

goldensmokeyeyeface

goldensmokeyeyes

Today I’ve decided to share what I wore for New Year’s Eve. I went pretty glam for the day, especially since we were hosting a baby shower for a second cousin of mine. I recently purchased a few Liquid Moondust tubes and decided to test one out. The verdict: pretty awesome.

Let’s get started:

maxresdefault

  1. Prime the eyelids and set all over with shade one.
  2. With a large fluffy brush, blend shade two all throughout the crease.
  3. With a small pencil brush, define the outer corners with shade three. Use a smaller blending brush to diffuse any harsh lines. Layer the shadow as many times as desired.
  4. Pack shade four all over the lid. Blend any harsh lines with the same small blending brush from earlier.
  5. Optional step: Apply the Liquid Moondust creme shadow in “Chem Trail” where the shimmer shade from the palette is applied.
  6. Blend shade three on the outer third of the lower lashline, extending about halfway.
  7. Apply shade five to the tear ducts for a highlight.
  8. Curl and coat your lashes, add falsies if you’d prefer.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a wonderful New Year.
