Golden Halo Eye Tutorial

Hello my lovelies!

It’s 1pm my time, and I’m sitting here finally drinking my morning coffee. Yeah, it’s been that kind of day so far. Today’s tutorial is on a look I wore to a nicer evening dinner with friends, but as always you can really wear this whenever you feel like it.

Unfortunately, I have to repeat myself once again in a separate blog post for all the people in the back, and this time I’m going to have to be a little meaner about it. I won’t lie to you, I really couldn’t care less what everyone thinks of the products I do or don’t use, because this is not your blog. I am not forcing any of you to look at my posts, and you have the ability to unfollow me if this is such a problem for you personally. If these borderline harassing emails continue, I will be forced to always moderate comments, and remove those of you who have been emailing me constantly about this. The behavior is completely inappropriate at this rate, and I’m not going to waste more time saying the same thing over and over. Consider this your warning.

Back to happiness, I’m sorry to those of you who are not the culprits of this mess, and are just incidentally along for the dramacoaster ride. That lecture is not meant for you, so please don’t worry and feel that it is aimed at every one of you.

Let’s get started:

Photo via

  1. Prime and set the lids with a bone colored shadow, or anything matching your skintone.
  2. Mixing “Lula” and “Isabel”, blend these throughout the crease and slightly onto the brow bone. The further toward the inner corner you blend these shadows, the more dramatic this look will become, which is exactly what I wanted.
  3. Pack “Violeta” on the inner and outer corners of the lid, blending out the edges away from the middle. If you’re messy like me, you can always use concealer to clean up the middle, so that the gold shade still pops. We don’t want any muddiness happening, or the shimmer looking dull.
  4. If this is looking pretty insane so far, relax, everything will work out. Halfway through, I almost thought about not posting this and starting over, because I looked like I had black eyes, but once I was finished, it came out great. Halo eyes require a lot of time and detail, so the key is a lot of patience.
  5. Wet a brush and pack “Marina” on the center of the eyelid. I prefer the look to have the shimmer packed all the way into the crease, but this is ultimately up to you.
  6. Use “Violeta” once again to blend out any harsh edges from “Marina”. WAIT UNTIL THE WET SHADOW HAS DRIED, or you will be spreading the shimmer everywhere and letting it dry that way.

Lower Lashline:

  1. Blend “Lula” and “Isabel” across the entire lower lashline to create a transition.
  2. Place “Marina” in the middle of the lashline to emulate what we have on the lids.

  1. Place “5th Ave” on the inner tear duct for a highlighted effect.
  2. Use a nude liner on the waterline. You can always use whatever color you want, but just know that a dark liner closes the eyes, and a light liner will open. This all just depends on your eye shape.
  3. Curl and coat your lashes, apply falsies if you’d prefer.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a lovely summer Wednesday.

Stay beautiful!

Digs and Duds

May Digs and Duds

Hello my lovelies!

It’s that time of the month again (no, not your period), and while I was pretty busy and unable to get this post up properly last month, I’m finally here to do it now!

Let’s get started:

Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner in “Lavender” – my aesthetician recommended that I find some witch hazel and use it as a toner. However, she suggested a brand on Amazon, and I generally hate having to resign myself to the mercy of buying beauty products online. I found this little gem at Target, and while I was originally looking for the plain O.G. one, I found Lavender only, which is also great for calming redness. This toner is alcohol-free, moisturizes, helps with any inflammation and redness, and has reduced my breakouts dramatically. Do I still break out? of course, I have oily skin; but most of my skin is made up of old scarring which I am currently treating. Maybe it’s psychosomatic, but I genuinely believe this has made a huge difference with my cystic acne.

Urban Decay Self-Adjusting Complexion Primer – I honestly have not heard any great press about the new UD primers, and I have not tried them all myself, but I am a huge fan of this one. Again, I struggle with redness from my scarring and breakouts, and this really does help combat the issue. It also helps keep my oiliness at bay, which is great for summer. The important thing about this product is to use it correctly, and not too much of it, or it will crumble off your skin in a weird, unappealing way. A little goes a long way, it is long lasting, and the effect looks super cool as you apply it.

M.A.C 133 Brush – While this brush is meant to be a blush brush, I like to use it for highlight, because I’m extra as hell. I know that everyone has said before that M.A.C brushes are fantastic, but I just want to let you know again; they’re pretty fan-fucking-tastic. This brush picks up a ton of product, even from highlighters that are generally more sheer, and blends them out so beautifully, it’s pretty unnecessary to go back in and blend out with the BB or a powder brush. I’ve cleaned it a good 3 to 4 times now as well, and the bristles have still maintained their softness.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics x MannyMua Collab Skin Frost in “Eclipse” – I’ve never owned a JSC highlighter, so this was new for me, and let me tell you, this product exceeded my expectations. This is pretty perfect for my skin tone (although it could work on you medium kids, I don’t know about dark), and is incredibly pigmented. Dead serious, I did a little scream when I put this on because it was so awe inspiring. I think that for the amount of product you get and the quality, $29.00 is a fair and reasonable price. *Side Note* I’ve gotten a few emails from some of you asking why I use JSC cosmetics given the *drama* surrounding him. Much like what I stated with my cruelty free post, I will use what’s best for me, and what I like. If I were to stop using JSC cosmetics, then I would also need to stop using KVD and Too Faced to be an equal opportunist; I’m not doing that. If my decision to use JSC genuinely bothers you, I’m sorry, but this is my blog, and I am allowed to like these products, drama aside.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics x MannyMua Collab Velour Liquid Lipsticks in “I’m Shook” and “Daddy” – First off, these names make me giggle, I love them and they are so Manny. Second, the colors are gorgeous. “Daddy” is an amazing brown-toned nude that looks pretty edgy on my complexion, and “I’m Shook” is an amazing Coral/Red/Pink mixture. I own quite a few of these lipsticks already, and I absolutely love them, so I’m so happy that this collab included these two new shades. Once again, not here for the drama about these colors being reboots, guys. Welcome to the world of makeup, where all brands essentially make 3 of the same color.

I’d like to point out real quick that I only realized just before this post went live that I had “Dudes” instead of “Duds”. H’durr.

Soap and Glory On Heck of a Blot Instant-Perfecting Power Primer – This product is not bad, however it just didn’t do anything for me in terms of oil control, which is what it claims to help with. Maybe I’m just too oily for this primer, but I really felt that this didn’t do nearly as good of a job as my UD Self-Adjusting Primer in combating any of my problems. I still want to finish it, so I tend to mix it with my UD primer now. I would say, maybe if you’re dry but have some mild T-Zone issues, this could probably work out. I’m bummed, because it was such an amazing price, and a rare occurrence at the drugstore (decent oil control primers).

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder – Man, Soap and Gory and I don’t jam together right now. I really like the finish and quality of this powder, I think that aspect is GREAT. However, this color is a disaster for ghosts like me. Even when I use darker foundations, this powder looks like I smeared yellow dye right under my eyes, and ends up darkening the area badly. I’ve seen medium toned individuals use this powder no problem, but I really think it’s meant for that specific range, since I’m not sure this would look great on deeper tones either. Again, good quality, just a horrible color for me.

Milani Fierce Foil Eyeshine in “04 Venice” – I’m not even going to sugarcoat it, I fucking hate this thing. The applicator picked up no product, the shadows creased SUPER bad, and I do not have oily eyelids and always prime. I tried a glitter glue to see if that would help; still awful. I tried virtually every brush possible, and my fingers; still horrid. I don’t get this product, and I know I’m being harsh, but I’m here to be honest with you guys. Milani is practically non-existent in the drugstores surrounding my neighborhood, so generally my only option is online ordering. While I will absolutely try more Milani products (Foundation in the works), this does not give me high hopes, especially since I ordered this after a fellow beauty blogger highly recommended it. Again, because I have to order online most times, I wont be including this brand often, NOT because I’ve decided that after one product, I hate it. The colors are so pretty and they’re decently pigmented, I just want to incinerate it because everything else is the worst.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a lovely Monday. If you have any bad weather heading your way, I currently feel your pain.

Stay beautiful!

Winter Must Haves

Hello my lovelies!

Today I have for you my ultimate winter must-haves. These are all the items in my life that I find completely necessary for the cold winter months to keep you cozy and stylish. I’ve also included a few accessories and makeup items, because fashion isn’t complete without a proper face application!

Winter Must Haves
(Starting from top, left to right)
Plain T-Shirt – While it may be short sleeved, t-shirts are an absolute must for any outfit. Pair with jeans, a skirt, or even over or under a dress.
Plain Long Sleeved Shirt – Of course, everyone needs a long sleeved shirt as well, in case layering isn’t your thing. Pair with the same items as the Plain T-Shirt.
Dark Wash Jeans – Not just any pair of jeans, dark wash are essential for a winter outfit. Not only is a dark wash slimming on the legs, but a dark color can provide contrast, a monochromatic palette, or a great neutral backdrop.
Turtleneck Sweater – In case any of you didn’t realize, I am truly obsessed with turtleneck and mockneck anything. I find that the right turtleneck can go with anything under the winter sun.
Signature Perfume – If you’re like me, you have one perfume you use all year, because no matter what, it just smells right. However, if you have separate perfumes for the seasons, or feel that you should have one, it is an absolute must.
Riding Boots – Since I’m insane, I recommend having both a black and brown pair, but it’s really up to you. Again, these shoes can really be paired with anything, such as dresses, skirts, jeans, leggings, you name it.
Suede Skirt – Yes, this is very specific, but it’s absolutely necessary. I love Suede during the fall and winter months, and I find it in skirt form to be the very best. You can find some really cheap versions if you’re not sure about this lasting in your wardrobe, but I say, worth it!
Joggers – I adore joggers. Not because they’re a lazy girl’s dream, but because they work in a multitude of ways. You can make them all fancy, or just be a semi-stylish hobo like me.
Foundation – Personally, I like more matte looks for the winter, because I find that it fits the season perfectly. Matte foundation also tends to be a little more weatherproof, versus a luminous base. However, I still say do you.
Beanie – I think beanies are so cute to wear in the winter, especially if you’re having a terrible hair day. You can create a polished look by styling your hair, or leaving your locks second day and messy under your hat.
Booties – Again, I vote for getting black and brown, but it’s really your preference. Pro tip: always fold the hem of your jeans up just above the boot to give your legs a more seamless look. This also helps elongate your legs if you are on the petite side.
Red Lipstick – While this color can be worn any time of the year, I find that a classic, blue toned lipstick is the best stand by to have. This color can go with any neutral winter outfit, which are my kinds of outfits.
chunky Scarf – I am obsessed with layering, and I love using a scarf as a layering technique. Living in Wisconsin also makes these babies a necessity.
Leopard Loafers – This is also pretty specific, but in my eyes, leopard can act as a neutral. Depending on where you live, these can also act as your “winter shoes” because they’re comfy and stylish at the same time. However, if you live in a cold climate like me, throw on some tights or specialty socks and you’ll be ready.
Nude Lipstick – A quality nude lipstick can be fairly easy to find, but finding your right collect can be tricky. Generally, you want your nude lip to fall in the “my lips, but better realm”. As such, going for a flesh toned color, like soft pinks or browns will help to amplify your natural pout.
Neutral Eyeshadow Palette – This doesn’t need to be anything expensive, but having a go-to neutrals palette will get you through any kind of winter weather. Contrary to what other people think, I feel that wearing a smokey eye in the middle of the day is completely fine, because you do you girl.
Trainers – Yes, I say trainers, because “sneakers” and “tennis shoes” sounds odd to me. Blame my European family. I love trainers, especially with the aforementioned joggers, for a casual outfit, even if you’re going to spend the day relaxing with friends. Also, don’t let winter keep you from working out!
Knee High/Over The Knee Socks – I am venturing into this trend, but I love the look of high socks with an A-line skirt. I may have thicker thighs than some, but don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t pull off a look based on your body. If you think you look good, that’s what matters.
Vest – I’m enthralled with my 18 dollar Polo Ralph Lauren vest, and I wear it pretty much anytime I don’t need to dress nicely or photograph. Again, with trainers and joggers, it’s just…I can’t.
Diamond Studs – These don’t have to be real, but having a pair of pretty studs is simple and classic, but also very chic.
Over the Knee Boots – I recently included these in my OOTD#70 post, and I am in love. I have been wearing these practically all the time, and it’s very handy since we’ve been experiencing a lot of snowfall lately. I would suggest black, because it’s just a classic look, and also if you wear dark pants, your legs look loooong.
Graphic T-Shirt – It could be vintage or something simple from Forever21, but graphic T’s are great to make any outfit interesting. Graphic T’s often tell a lot about the personality of the wearer, because it’s a personal reflection of what that person likes. Personally, I think it’s awesome to include as much personality as possible in your wardrobe, and Graphic T-shirts are a great way to do that.
Cape – Capes are my latest love, and I even got one from a family friend in Chicago as an early birthday present. Capes can be a pretty on again, off again trend, but since I’m not the type that tries to religiously keep up with trends, I really wanted to invest in the perfect one. This investment was so worth it! I love that it’s warm like a coat, but so classy and chic.
Mascara – As I said before with my other makeup items, this part is really up to you. However, I love a lovely smokey mascara for winter, since there’s nothing better than sultry winter eyes.
Nameplate Necklace – Some people may find this tacky, and I personally don’t have one (because apparently the name Zoey is unheard of), I love this idea. I think it’s incredibly cute and while it may not be a winter necessity, I wanted to include it anyway because why the hell not, right?
That is all I have for you guys today. Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe to my blog for more goodies. Also remember to have an absolutely beautiful week.
Stay beautiful!
