OOTD: Blue Lagoon

Hello my lovelies!

I have a few quick announcements before I talk about my outfit!

I’ve decided to move my regular Friday posting to Saturday, as this day of the week overall works better with my schedule. Posting on Saturday also means that I am more likely able to post during the afternoon, instead of evenings like Monday and Wednesday. Also for PR reasons, posting any day BUT Friday garners me more traffic, which I understand, since the reason I’m moving my date is because I’m generally out and about at the end of the week. Selfishly, I get to claim more website traffic by moving my posting a day later.

Because April was a particularly busy month for me, I didn’t manage to get up my monthly review post. For May, I will have a post, however, I will be cutting it in half and reserving the rest for June, since I am a month off. Hope this works out ok for all of you!

I want to start including recipes as part of my blogging regimen. I want to lean more toward healthier eating, maybe include a few lifestyle posts, but I will definitely include some more decadent recipes now and again. I’m not going to lie and say that all of my recipes will be original, and if they aren’t I will be sure to link back where I found them, and any tweaks I made, if any, since I like to play with recipes instead of following the recipe; what can I say, I’ve never been one for rules! Since I am Celiac and living in an allergen-friendly home, most of my recipes will not include wheat/gluten containing products, artificial dyes, shellfish, and nuts. Unfortunately, I will not be able to cater to many vegans out there, as I am generally not able to use nut or soy based products due to allergies in my family. Generally, I adapt recipes to my specific dietary needs, so non-original recipes that I link may include these things, but I will leave my edits in place in my personal post. I love to cook and try new things, so don’t be surprised if I post an Ostrich burger or avocado brownies, it’s just my version of the norm!

I also wanted to give a quick shout out to the incredible privilege I have grown up with. The fact that I am able to use my own laptop, buy my own makeup products, buy nice clothing, and cook amazing food, is a sign of the privilege that I have experienced throughout my life. I never want to give the outward appearance that I am ungrateful or that I don’t acknowledge that others may have less (or more) than me. While I know it’s not the New Year, I wanted to create a resolution for myself for this summer in particular: I want to compliment at least one random stranger every day, even if it’s something as silly as complimenting their eyebrows. I also want to find more opportunities to use the skills that I have in volunteer situations. While I have always “wanted” things in the sense of a desire, I have never felt worried about when my next meal was, or what clothes I had left, or where I was going to sleep at night. That is not to say that the problems I face are irrelevant, but that I am in a position to help others who are not as fortunate as me. While I don’t share these things on here, I think about societal issues we face often, global and local, and I want to start doing something about these issues. I am no longer a small kid with no say in these matters, and as the future of this planet, I want to start making a difference, and I encourage everyone reading this, in your places of privilege, to do the same. I still want you all to remember that being privileged doesn’t make you a bad person, but being able to self-analyze and realize the place of comfort you are in is key to being compassionate and empathetic towards those who don’t have all the nice things that we have. Privilege is not bad; what’s bad is not using it wisely.

AND NOW to the outfit post! In other news I chopped off my hair, water is wet, and I desperately need some fake tan.

My Ultimate Car Trip Playlist

Hello my lovelies!

First off, I am SUPER sorry about my brief hiatus. Things just got all caught up with my impending departure to Uni, and I needed to sort all those things out.

Today I want to share my ultimate car trip playlist for travelling on the road.

Like my style and beauty choices, my taste in music is quite eclectic. I could be on a rocking, head-banging rampage at one moment, and crying along to sappy love songs the next. However, when I’m travelling, I want a playlist that’s upbeat and keeps me going the whole ride. Thanks to Turo, a car-sharing company based in San Francisco, I have the opportunity to share my playlist with you today!

Top Five

Top 5: Mules of the moment

Hello my lovelies!
Mules of the moment
I’ve been having an intense affair. It’s taken me a long time to admit it to myself, but I’m no longer afraid of the truth.
I am obsessed with mules.
As of yet, I do not have a pair (though I have ordered a pair), but I helplessly lust over them every chance I get.
Out of all the mules in the world, These are probably some of my favorites. While the five of them are different from each other, they all have unique personalities that make them truly special to me.
From Left to Right:
New Look Black Suedette Peep Toe Metal Block Mules (Buy here) – I’m totally loving the metal heel with the black suede. Black and gold is one of my personal favorite combos. Bonus, these babies are super cheap, at 22.99 pounds (about 30.00 dollars), yet look top quality and would absolutely catch everyone’s attention.
New Look Suedette Peep Toe Block Heel Mules (Buy here. Available in two colors) – Another steal at 24.99 pounds (about 32.oo dollars), I love how laid back yet chic these particular mules are. The all around chunkiness of this shoe is my favorite aspect, and these would look so amazing if they were accompanying a boho look.
Topshop DUEL Mule Sandal (Buy here. Available in two colors) – A decent middle ground price at 48.00 dollars, these are definitely the most fun and daring mules of the bunch. The metallic gold look is absolutely divine, and gives any outfit an ultra luxe vibe.
New Look White Premium Leather Peep Toe Mules (Buy here. Available in two colors) – While these are a little more expensive at 39.99 pounds (about 52.00 dollars), I love the simplicity of these mules. The beauty of black or white shoes, is that they go with almost anything. In regards to white especially, it is a fabulous summer color to pair with bright colors.
Topshop DELLA Mule Sandal (Buy here. Available in two colors) – Another good price at 48.00 dollars once again, these mules are by far the most edgy. Nonetheless, they have a fantastic and youthful look that would spice up any neutral outfit. The chunkiness is fantastic and adds a little grunge.
That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it helps me out so much. I hope all of you have a wonderful start to your week.

OOTD: Color Blocking

Hello my lovelies!

I apologize for all of the sporadic posting last week. I one hundred percent blame my visiting SO for the inconvenience. All kidding aside, it’s been an eventful week for me, so posting has been a little difficult to come by.

During my multiple visits to Milwaukee these past several weeks, I stumbled upon a store by the name of “Akira”. This is a Chicago based chain retail store that sells modern women’s clothing. While most of the items were super cute, some other pieces we’re a little lackluster in quality, or straight up crazy. I ended up purchasing the bomber below, and the shirt below in two colors. I love my purchases, and am so happy I purchased them. The quality of my items is great, especially for what I paid.

OOTD: Sporty Casual

Hello my lovelies!

Yes I know, ANOTHER casual outfit, but that’s been my life lately with going back and forth to Milwaukee.

I have recently been obsessed with ball caps, so much so that I bought my very first hat a few weeks ago. Given that I’m mostly in a black uniform on an average day, I decided to purchase a hat that was black, with just a kiss of print for some added interest. Of course, there are a LOT of different colors, textures, and styles of ball caps for everyone to choose from. It’s all about what suits your fancy!

OOTD: Grad Party

Hello my lovelies!

I apologize for missing two posting days. As a high school graduate this year, all of my friends and family were flocking up to Wisconsin for my graduation party this past weekend. The party was wonderful! So wonderful in fact, that I am still trying to recover from being partied out.

Since this was my party, I figured I should try to stand out in all the best ways. For me, that meant perfecting my makeup, hair, and outfit. While I generally stuck with an all black and gray outfit, I wanted to accompany all of this with a bright makeup look, which I will post this Friday.

While this particular outfit may seem a little brooding, I think it is still a perfectly airy and summery look. The outfit is both edgy, with the cutout dress and black choker, and feminine, with the strappy sandals. Unforunately, I purchased this particular dress at Forever 21 last summer, meaning that it is no longer available for purchase. However, I found  two fairly similar dresses that would go equally well with this look, here and here.

Outfit Details:

Dress – Forever 21 (See Above)

Choker – Apricot Lane (Similar Here)

Shoes – Steve Madden (Similar Here)

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out! Additionally, have a lovely week full of sunshine and fun.

Winter Must Haves

Hello my lovelies!

Today I have for you my ultimate winter must-haves. These are all the items in my life that I find completely necessary for the cold winter months to keep you cozy and stylish. I’ve also included a few accessories and makeup items, because fashion isn’t complete without a proper face application!

Winter Must Haves
(Starting from top, left to right)
Plain T-Shirt – While it may be short sleeved, t-shirts are an absolute must for any outfit. Pair with jeans, a skirt, or even over or under a dress.
Plain Long Sleeved Shirt – Of course, everyone needs a long sleeved shirt as well, in case layering isn’t your thing. Pair with the same items as the Plain T-Shirt.
Dark Wash Jeans – Not just any pair of jeans, dark wash are essential for a winter outfit. Not only is a dark wash slimming on the legs, but a dark color can provide contrast, a monochromatic palette, or a great neutral backdrop.
Turtleneck Sweater – In case any of you didn’t realize, I am truly obsessed with turtleneck and mockneck anything. I find that the right turtleneck can go with anything under the winter sun.
Signature Perfume – If you’re like me, you have one perfume you use all year, because no matter what, it just smells right. However, if you have separate perfumes for the seasons, or feel that you should have one, it is an absolute must.
Riding Boots – Since I’m insane, I recommend having both a black and brown pair, but it’s really up to you. Again, these shoes can really be paired with anything, such as dresses, skirts, jeans, leggings, you name it.
Suede Skirt – Yes, this is very specific, but it’s absolutely necessary. I love Suede during the fall and winter months, and I find it in skirt form to be the very best. You can find some really cheap versions if you’re not sure about this lasting in your wardrobe, but I say, worth it!
Joggers – I adore joggers. Not because they’re a lazy girl’s dream, but because they work in a multitude of ways. You can make them all fancy, or just be a semi-stylish hobo like me.
Foundation – Personally, I like more matte looks for the winter, because I find that it fits the season perfectly. Matte foundation also tends to be a little more weatherproof, versus a luminous base. However, I still say do you.
Beanie – I think beanies are so cute to wear in the winter, especially if you’re having a terrible hair day. You can create a polished look by styling your hair, or leaving your locks second day and messy under your hat.
Booties – Again, I vote for getting black and brown, but it’s really your preference. Pro tip: always fold the hem of your jeans up just above the boot to give your legs a more seamless look. This also helps elongate your legs if you are on the petite side.
Red Lipstick – While this color can be worn any time of the year, I find that a classic, blue toned lipstick is the best stand by to have. This color can go with any neutral winter outfit, which are my kinds of outfits.
chunky Scarf – I am obsessed with layering, and I love using a scarf as a layering technique. Living in Wisconsin also makes these babies a necessity.
Leopard Loafers – This is also pretty specific, but in my eyes, leopard can act as a neutral. Depending on where you live, these can also act as your “winter shoes” because they’re comfy and stylish at the same time. However, if you live in a cold climate like me, throw on some tights or specialty socks and you’ll be ready.
Nude Lipstick – A quality nude lipstick can be fairly easy to find, but finding your right collect can be tricky. Generally, you want your nude lip to fall in the “my lips, but better realm”. As such, going for a flesh toned color, like soft pinks or browns will help to amplify your natural pout.
Neutral Eyeshadow Palette – This doesn’t need to be anything expensive, but having a go-to neutrals palette will get you through any kind of winter weather. Contrary to what other people think, I feel that wearing a smokey eye in the middle of the day is completely fine, because you do you girl.
Trainers – Yes, I say trainers, because “sneakers” and “tennis shoes” sounds odd to me. Blame my European family. I love trainers, especially with the aforementioned joggers, for a casual outfit, even if you’re going to spend the day relaxing with friends. Also, don’t let winter keep you from working out!
Knee High/Over The Knee Socks – I am venturing into this trend, but I love the look of high socks with an A-line skirt. I may have thicker thighs than some, but don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t pull off a look based on your body. If you think you look good, that’s what matters.
Vest – I’m enthralled with my 18 dollar Polo Ralph Lauren vest, and I wear it pretty much anytime I don’t need to dress nicely or photograph. Again, with trainers and joggers, it’s just…I can’t.
Diamond Studs – These don’t have to be real, but having a pair of pretty studs is simple and classic, but also very chic.
Over the Knee Boots – I recently included these in my OOTD#70 post, and I am in love. I have been wearing these practically all the time, and it’s very handy since we’ve been experiencing a lot of snowfall lately. I would suggest black, because it’s just a classic look, and also if you wear dark pants, your legs look loooong.
Graphic T-Shirt – It could be vintage or something simple from Forever21, but graphic T’s are great to make any outfit interesting. Graphic T’s often tell a lot about the personality of the wearer, because it’s a personal reflection of what that person likes. Personally, I think it’s awesome to include as much personality as possible in your wardrobe, and Graphic T-shirts are a great way to do that.
Cape – Capes are my latest love, and I even got one from a family friend in Chicago as an early birthday present. Capes can be a pretty on again, off again trend, but since I’m not the type that tries to religiously keep up with trends, I really wanted to invest in the perfect one. This investment was so worth it! I love that it’s warm like a coat, but so classy and chic.
Mascara – As I said before with my other makeup items, this part is really up to you. However, I love a lovely smokey mascara for winter, since there’s nothing better than sultry winter eyes.
Nameplate Necklace – Some people may find this tacky, and I personally don’t have one (because apparently the name Zoey is unheard of), I love this idea. I think it’s incredibly cute and while it may not be a winter necessity, I wanted to include it anyway because why the hell not, right?
That is all I have for you guys today. Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe to my blog for more goodies. Also remember to have an absolutely beautiful week.
Stay beautiful!
